Presents
THE LEGENDARY
GREG STUMP

Most of us know classic movies like The Wizard of Oz, Maltese Falcon, or Fistfull of Dollars.

But in the ski world, there’s Groove: Requiem In the Key of SkiBlizzard of Aahhh’s, Maltese Flamingo, Fistful of Moguls, and more, all due to the visionary, Greg Stump!

A national freestyle champion with deep roots in film and music, Greg Stump transformed ski movies with extreme action, music, and personality. When Greg was an earnest young prodigy at Maine’s Pleasant Mountain en route to becoming the North American freestyle champion, he kicked off one of his ballet runs by detonating a bomb.

Stump’s brash, bad-boy image concealed the hard work and preparation behind the bravado, as he actually brought impressive ski, film, and music credentials to the field. He made extreme mainstream, not just for skiing, but for American culture, and encouraged the athletes to tell their stories.

Stump inspired a generation of skiers and riders, as well as the founding of film companies like Teton Gravity Research and Matchstick Productions. He welcomed snowboarders to the party, and built & filmed the first boarder cross course. The New York Times labelled him a “maverick,” while Playboy said he was “a true master of gonzodom.” When Skiing Magazine released its list of the “25 Most Influential People in Skiing” of all time, Stump was on it.
