On August 24, occupied Ukraine will be celebrating its Independence Day.
As we all know, on 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, calling it an “incursion,” with attacks on military targets near Kyiv. The attacks persist. Since that date, 6,657,918 (as of 17 August 2022) refugees from Ukraine have been recorded across Europe.
Nearly the same amount of people who have stayed have lost their homes, businesses, livelihoods.
No one was spared the tragedy of war:
no gender, no class, no age group.
Not all refugees went to Europe.
Maryana and her son found themselves in the United States of America.

Maryana has more than 20 years of broad ranging professional experience in top management positions in the field of marketing and communication, business development and sales, big sports and country promotion projects, project and team management and international cooperation; over 5 years of experience in policy development and institution building for public sector reforms in Ukraine in the realms of trade development, export promotion, intergovernmental and international economic relations, global competitiveness of the national economy, SME development, women leadership and economic empowerment. |
